The State of the Nation
Regardless of where you stand in your choice for the next President, this'll be worth your while.
In some quarters I have been taken to task for being critical of the Dems. Some say that any criticism is tantamount to being for The Donald. Others, just flat out take me for a far right propagandist. [It's none of my business what others may think of me.]
I've also been pointing out a concern over the stridently intolerant liberal types showing up here and there. Like Rob Reiner the Meathead saying a vote for Trump means you're a racist.
One friend said it well, "And the liberal thought policing — don't say anything negative about the Dems — is a form of soft fascism in and of itself."
I've been saying it is fascist leaning, and possible a harbinger of things to come; it'll be coming from, not the Right as you might expect, but from the Left.
Instead the comeback debate among those so accused has been over the meaning of the word "fascist" and how it may not fit my idea of things. Okay. Call it something else. Authoritarianism, totalitarianism? Whatever ... it's not good. Even if it's packaged in a Brave New World kumbaya framing.
All that notwithstanding, the conversation seems to be about the choice being between day old Sushi, or two day old. As a friend put it, not two day old, but "badly cleaned Fugu".
Here's a funny, yet accurate take on the state of the nation:
So the Democrats after being nothing but critical of Potus 24/7/12/365 since day one — instead of attempting even some semblance of working with him as a true loyal opposition should — now give us Uncle Joe as the solution to a problem they did nothing to correct, and quite possible even exacerbated by their relentless castigation. Which, by the way, has lost them a lot of credibility in my eyes. Sure, there's a lot to criticize with the current administration and its administrator. But, nothing worthwhile? Really?
